Commitment Without Conflict

Self-esteem is a topic you don’t hear much about these days. It is a major hindrance to commitments required for long term relationships.
The truth is it takes guts and the willingness put yourself in a position to possibly fail. But as long as you have the willingness to learn, and to get up after you fall down, you’ll end up with real wisdom. Try, fail, adjust is the secret formula to success in any venture, especially in relationships.

As hard as it is when starting a relationship, it even harder when you are deeply in love. When you’re really head over heels in love, it’s so hard to find the balance between doing what you WANT to do and following your heart. The blinding and deafening emotions beat like your heart is pounding in your ears often resulting in momentary paralysis.

Many people in this situation end up playing “hard to get” against their will! instead of letting things flow naturally. But the paralysis of fear and uncertainty resulting from the lack of self esteem is often disguised by an unnecessary attempt to play hard to get. Many have realized after the fact that if they had not played hard to get they would be in a long term relationship or even ended up married.

Don’t play games to cover up your insecurities. Be willing to push past the fear and understand that you must let your partner decide whether to commit or not and not try to make the decision for them based on your assessment of yourself. Don’t count yourself out prematurely. Give your partner the chance to decide for themselves.

Remember, there are times when playing hard to get can help your relationship, but don’t let your lack of self esteem be the only reason. How many women and men wish they’d been just a LITTLE smarter – and all it takes is just a little bit at the right time and for the right reasons.

Have a great day, and hope it helps,
