How To Resolve Problems With A Marriage
Let’s face it, no marriage is perfect. While marriage often seems like a good idea, it can turn out to be a nightmare for both parties involved. To have a successful marriage, there are several steps that should be taken before the marriage vows are spoken. First it’s important to recognize the difference between passionate love and benign love. Passionate love is the kind of love that makes successful marriages; this love is deep seeded and based on two people who have mutual respect and care for each other. Benign love feels as its name implies, benign, there is love in this relationship but it’s more a love of convenience than choice. Though we often associate teenagers with being full of passion, in truth they’re the most common targets of benign love. This love is love for the sake of being in love, rather than love of another person. People who are frequently in and out of relationships tend to experience forms of benign love.
Marriage problems result from relationships where both parties don’t feel like the other person is another extension of themselves. But it’s hard to admit that benign love isn’t real, because it can feel real. It’s important to recognize the difference between a person who you want to grow old with and a person who is ‘good enough for now’.
